If you struggle with IBS, GERD, or IBD, chances are, you’ve experienced some anxiety around meal times, especially when eating out. It can be hard to figure out what your triggers are when tracking your meals, sleep, and stress is tedious. We’ve designed our app with the power of AI to take that burden off of you. Let’s follow Caleb, who has been invited to a summer barbeque at his friend’s house to see how Flourish AI can help.

Caleb arrives and is overwhelmed by all the dishes that guests have contributed to the potluck barbeque. He’s not sure what will be safe for him to eat. That mac and cheese looks fire, but will the grease make him bloat? A Coke sounds refreshing, but will it give him acid reflux? — so he takes a few photos of dishes and drinks that look good to him and asks Flora to help him decide:

Flora helps Caleb put together a meal that will be enjoyable for him but won’t cause a GERD or IBS flare-up later! He logs it using the photo and the voice-typing feature to see even more insights about the meal’s overall trigger summary and macros, too:

So, how was Flora able to help Caleb so well? Let’s walk through the AI agent’s process:

1. The Scientific Foundation:

When Caleb typed in his query, our AI referred to the vast “digital library” of evidence-backed knowledge (e.g., peer-reviewed studies, dietary protocols like low-FODMAP, etc.) that our team has carefully vetted. Our AI used this data set to assess whether each dish was likely to cause a flare-up and to make recommendations.

2. The Personal Profile:

The agent also referenced Caleb’s specific health conditions, such as having both IBS and GERD, to make specific recommendations that are often hard to find, given the complexity of navigating two conditions. This data came from Caleb’s onboarding information when he first made his account.

3. The Lived Experience:

But Flora didn’t just use Caleb’s health information from his account profile. It also used Caleb’s tastes and preferences, learned from Caleb explicitly stating them, and more detailed information from his symptom and meal logging history. Flora is constantly learning about what cuisines Caleb likes, the patterns in his symptoms, and his personal triggers in order to make progressively more accurate and tailored recommendations. For example, Flora recommended diluted fruit punch as an alternative to Coke because it’s non-carbonated, low acid, and something that Caleb enjoys drinking.

And Flora helps Caleb in other contexts, too, from grocery shopping, to recipes, to lifestyle recommendations! Find out how Flourish AI can help you thrive with a chronic gut condition and achieve your health goals by becoming a beta user
